Shanghai Center of Photography's end-of-the-year exhibition, Wing Shya: Acting Out, 25 Years Behind a Camera, features more than 100 photos of '90s and early '00s Hong Kong. These works showcase the iconic photographer's unique and highly personal perspective on the golden era of Hong Kong cinema and the huge societal changes that took place during those years.

Wing Shya said his distinctive “experimental style” was experimental. On the other end of the telephone, Shya told me, “I really didn’t learn much then, I only shot photographs using my own ways.”

From the silver screen to the show stage, Rosamund Kwan has retired for nearly a decade but has never stopped her engagement in the world of art. Now, she starts again with her own fashion brand and returns to the public with her new identity.

The first time I saw Rosamund Kwan was in the 1993 film The Magic Crane. Compared to the cool, aggressive Butterfly Lam on the screen, the real person in front of me is an easy-going, smiley, and charming lady. In fact, now Kwan looks more confident and energetic.

Known as one of the “Three Treasures of Fine Cuisine”, the crystal-clear, plump caviar bounces on the tip of tongue and suddenly breaks, like an ocean storm in the mouth…

Look at the caviar on the dish… so smooth, plump and fresh. Not all fish eggs can be deemed caviar; only the sturgeon fish eggs have the right to that name. And among them, the crown must be awarded to the sturgeon living in the Caspian Sea at the border of Iran and Russia.

When exquisite cuisines are placed onto the table, have you ever noticed the artistry of the dishes that hold the food?

The dining table overflowing with delicious food is a tiny world – a world that accumulates the essence of art: the fine cuisines embody the excellent cookery; the delicious wine comes from the wash of time; and the refined tableware represents the level and depth of personal aesthetics. As the saying goes, dish for dish’s sake. From time to time, the ability to appreciate overpowers the ability to taste, while whether the dishes are “pretty” enough contributes a lot to the overall perfection of a dining experience!

Nothing pulls a winter outfit together quite like a trendy overcoat. They are practical and able to contain multiple design elements. Take FENDI for instance, after the modern Rococo style was introduced in the Spring/Summer collection earlier this year.

Watch dials are like miniature stages showing the vicissitudes of art and craftsmanship. This tiny, tiny world encapsulates the infinite wonders of the world and in the New Year, when the stage of watch dials welcomes the new “host” – the dog zodiac, a show of vividness will begin.

2018 is the year of the dog. Featuring the loyal, reliable emblem, these innovative watch designs bring a special touch of wishes.

Designer Alessio Zhang holds the firm belief that modern techniques are able to interpret oriental charm to the largest extent. With the aid of modernistic elements, a space infused with oriental grace was thus born. It is simple, natural, moderate, and philosophical.

Enter the Parkview, a philosophical world of art and life. Live a poetic life, and feel the changing seasons through the lapse of time in a little piece of space.

Wood, concrete, the mysterious south and transparent north façade… every aspect contributes to this intelligent, modern residence.

God is in the details; this idea is clearly seen in the design here. The seemingly ordinary appearance hides the marvellous and meticulous attention to detail, and much of this article is dedicated to the appreciation of it.

Even in the chilly winter, Nara prides itself with an abundance of charm. With the aid of colour and natural elements, the city captures the entire world’s attention.

The annual “Mountain Burning” and “Glaze Show” are exhilarating events, with the shrines and temples scattered all over the city attracting tourists from around the world. And as of the Nara deer that live freely all over the city, they’ve already become a legendary part of Japan.
