A slip of abstraction by Ma Lu

@ M Art Center
Mar 21st – Apr 20th, 2014

Ma Lu’s works do not emphasize geometrical relations on canvas like Mondrian, nor are they like Jackson Pollock’s drip paintings. His philosophy seems to be somewhere in-between, and related to the physical experience of normal people.

Ma Lu, born in Beijing in 1958, obtained a Bachelor’s degree at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing in 1982 and pursued his study in Hochschule Fur Bildende Kunste Hamburg in Germany. He is now a professor in the Oil Painting Department, and Dean of the China Central Academy of Fine Arts.
